What's Going On?

What's Going On?

Up in the sky, planes fly by.

Down on the ground, jack hammers pound.

Is  it  going  to  last?  Do  we  have  time?

What are the odds that it will all melt down?

A camel walks by with a frown.

(C:)           Sixteen days  'til sixteen days from now,

My sister's all aloof, there's Cubans on the roof.

What's going on, is it time?

You're gonna have to give it up

I don't know, do you understand?

Texas is the reason that our President is dead.

Vietnam is the reason our sons are dead.

Blood running out of the bullethole in his head.

Hanoi, Saigon,  Charlie, your brother,

Every thing costs one thing or another.

Money is evil, used to purchase the good.

Cars are fast, used to move the slow.

If it goes around, it must stop.

Your mind is racing, spinning like a top.

Songs are written, written without meaning.

Songs are written, written, written...

Anne wants a toy doll. Billy wants a dog to run through

the kitchen, to spill Daddy's cup.  Debbie is the one who's

wishing, craving for something new, to make her happy,

but she can't think what it is.   There's nothing new,

something old.  Just music.  Dance, dance...

Debbie  runs  through the  bushes,  clawing  for safety.

Jumping over hedges, swimming creeks, climbing trees.

Is  there  anywhere  safe?    Daddy's  lap.  Mommy's  mad  at

Billy.   Debbie wants a new mommy.     Emma wants a new

hubby.  It's all meaningless.  Just dance.  Music. music...

Can you think of what's going on?  Is there time? When is

it? Do you remember?

Nothing costs nothing, everything costs something,

Buying, selling, swimming, running,

Wheels go 'round, gears keep turning.

Pictures of girls litter my wallet,

Can't find my money when I need it.

What's going on, do you know? Please tell me...
